This fireplace is fantastic. My wife asked for an electric fireplace in our bedroom for her Christmas gift. It took a while to find the right unit and I definitely found the right one. It looks great, works great and my wife was blown away. The price and features were also a big plus. The unit is very simple to operate and offers three different color flames and the level of brightness can also be adjusted. One of the best features is that the unit has bluetooth speakers. I was able to sync my cellphone with the speakers and play crackling fire sounds from a YouTube video. That feature is awesome. My wife chose to use the crystal rocks but it also comes with a fire log insert. The rocks along with the stainless steel front gives it a very modern look which goes perfect in our room.The installation process can be as easy or complicated as you desire. It comes with hardware to be mounted to a wall or if you're more of the adventurous type, you can install it inside your wall. I chose to install it inside my wall because of the clean look and it fit perfect in my wall that has 2x4 studs. There are a couple of things to keep in mind if you decide to install it in your wall. First, don't completely trust the directions in regards to how big to cut the hole. I was very careful measuring everything. I cut the hole based on the instructions but I should have trusted my gut and cut the holes slightly smaller than the instructions. In the end the until still fit but I didn't have enough space on the sides to use the anchors that were provide to hold the unit in the wall. I had to improvise in order to make it work. I also had too much space at the top of the unit. The stainless front barely covered the hole at the top. Again, the hole could definitely be smaller than the instructions. Secondly, the unit has an electrical cord that is located in the back of the unit and the unit will be completed flushed in wall. This means that you're going to have to figure out how to run the cord out of the wall. I was fortunate that I could easily run the cord out the back of the wall. I also installed an electrical outlet to accommodate the unit on the other side of the wall. Just make sure you plan accordingly before you cut out a hole in the wall. This is not an install that you want to rush through. It took me a day and a half to complete the installation by myself and I spent a couple of hours just planning my installation steps and writing down materials I would need. It's a great unit and I think it was well worth the effort based on the results and my wife's reaction. We have no plans on using the heating feature so I didn't make any comments regarding it.
