Out of the well packed box came this shallow bodied guitar that almost looked toy-like, being slightly smaller than most acoustics would be. It comes with it's own custom hole cover for live applications (feedback reduction), since the hole is oval shaped. Intonation is great, even using a capo way up on the 11th, the built in tuner still shows a pitch perfect tuning. I play with D# tuning and Elixir custom lights Phosphor bronze strings and it sounds and performs superbly.The hardware is tight and precise and hold your tuning nicely. It's a great "honey, can you keep it down" guitar - for those moments you need to be quieter - using the sound hole cover while unplugged keeps your noise level very low and gives you a nice muted tone of a shallow bodied guitar.Sounds GREAT through my Behringer Ultra Acoustic amp, the amp really compliments the sound production of this guitar, but I guess that another review all in its own. I digress... This Yamaha is built very well, light too. There hasn't been any amp that I plugged into yet that doesn't compliment this guitar tone. They also make a custom case for the APX series guitars here on Amazon if you desire to have a great hard case for toting it about. The price is worth the performance as you will see if you choose to buy one of the APX series guitars.The APX700 electronics are very nice here too, good feedback control if you desire it. The only con I have to note here is the guitar chord plug in goes through the strap's lower anchoring post, so you can't use any locking/quick release strap hardware unless you screw in an addition post dedicated to a locking system. However, the posts are ridged nicely here to where your strap doesn't want to come off, that is also aided by the positions of the points and the balance of the guitar when you're all strapped up. It really is a fantastic all around guitar for those of you who want a professional sound with some sound versatility and great playability. Happy playing.
