I tried a battery operated spinning type of mop and compared to this mop and this mop is much easier to use. The spin mops tend to go off in odd directions despite (or maybe because of) their spinning in opposite directions to prevent mops from spinning off to one direction. This mops stays put unless you push forwards or backwards and then it seems to aid the forward or backwards push by moving with very little effort in direction of your push.Unlike my spin mop, it is fine if you push down on it to put some weight behind the vibration to do a more thorough scrub, but you can't put too much weight on it since if you put the handle vertically to put some weight on the mop, the mop turns off. You can only apply pressure at an angle which means you have to push harder to generate the same amount of vertical force. However, you don't have to use a lot of force as the mop does a pretty good job of cleaning.For stubborn stains, you can mop it the first time and let the moisture from the mop and the first scrubbing soak in for a while before you return. Normally sticky residues from food dropped on floor are gone after around 3 or 4 return trips after being allowed to soak for a while. Most other stains disappear on the first pass.The mop has a slow speed it likes to travel at and doesn't like to be pushed faster (requires more force to make it go faster) - think of those slow floor cleaners at home depot if you've visited home depot when they are geting their floors cleaned during business hours. This makes cleaning take longer or you can have a choice to have a shorter but more tiring cleaning cycle by pushing it faster than it likes to go using your back and arm muscles. However battery is long lasting so far and I was able to do multiple passes at its preferred slow pace around a 500 sq ft space area without running out of battery charge.The pads provided are thick and fluffy. If you like walking around barefoot, or having clean socks while walking around with socks on, having an automated mop helps get that clean feel on the floor that you can't get with just a swifter or a rectangular Bona type mop without getting down on your hands and knees to scrub certain areas (or with a lot of chemicals). This product will clean your floor with just water which is nice with kids and dog picking food off the floor and putting it in their mouths.I also looked at vacuum/wet mop combinations which vacuums, wet mops and cleans the mop at the same time, but even very expensive models had reviews indicating longer term and slow developing issues with leaking in the tanks, not sucking up the water from the floor which was left on the floor from the cleaning cycle, and the cleanup after each cycle is extensive, requiring you take the vacuum apart and clean the entire insides to prevent mold from developing inside or things getting stuck inside.I like the idea behind a mop cleaning itself constantly while I mop (vs having to stop mid cycle to wash out the pads after they get too dirty) but I also I prefer cleaning just 2 or 4 pads vs entire insides of a mop. Normally the floor is clean enough I can go through 2-4 pads in one cycle without having to wash them until the end. Sometimes I even use one set of pads for wet mop and 2nd set of pads for drying/buffing (but normally I just left the floor air dry).I did like the idea of not having to do a separate vacuum and mop cycles though so I tried holding a lighter battery operated vacuum in one hand and driving it in front of the battery operated mop. It worked but the mop travels too slowly to want to hold a vacuum in your other hand for the entire duration. It's more convenient to do a fast vacuum cycle to gather up all the crumbs and debris and then walk slowly with mop in one hand and a cell phone in the other hand.One thing I may have to worry about for the future is that using an automated mop on the floor will decrease the life of the floor by wearing down the floor's wear layer.Overall, it's a great product and it's changed how frequently I can have that clean feel of the floor being mopped on hands and knees.
