This grinder does exactly what you need it to do. If you have ever used a larger more commercial grinder, you will appreciate the power of this "home use" tool. This sausage maker machine made my ground chuck roast look like it was professionally ground by the butcher. Just buy it!I bought this model because it was recommended by the author of The Food Lab cookbook and SeriousEats.com. There are lots of claims about power (wattage) in grinder listings but it's hard to compare because some use peak wattage and others use different measures. I also didn't find claims of being able to grind a certain number of pounds per hour helpful. I was happy to find something recommended by a source I've used before and had good luck with. The price of this grinder made it easy to take a chance on.I also own the KitchenAid grinder attachment for their stand mixer. I did not like the attachment because it didn't seem to have much power and would bog down if you put much meat in it. This grinder is MUCH more powerful and makes quick work of beef. I'd estimate that it's easily three times as quick as the KitchenAid attachment. I really liked the variable speeds of the grinder and the reverse function although I haven't had to use the reverse yet.I don't grind a lot of meat. Mostly just buying roasts and grinding my own hamburger which I like better than the store ground beef. That said, I think this grinder could easily process deer or other game animals. It is fairly large especially compared to a mixer attachment grinder so I'll have to store it in the garage. For people like me, it would be very helpful to include a case or have a case as an option. The cover on this grinder is plastic but I don't see that as a problem. It included 3 grind plates and a sausage attachment. It was easy to put together and clean. It would also be nice to have an included brush to clean the plates but I can find that separately. All in all a very nice powerful grinder. Much superior to the KitchenAid attachment.
