I found "Eight Dream Interpretations For Solo Electric Guitar Ensemble" by Roger (Clark) Miller to be a natural evolution of Miller's progression as a musician and artist. His affinity for experimentation, so evident as guitarist, singer, and co-founder of Mission of Burma, is fully on display here as well. His endless fascination with creating a "field of sound" works in abundance on this fine album. Those who have followed Miller's prolific career, which has taken many forms, will recognize common threads in this work. Layered and complex melodies, driving rhythms, and a sense of wonder. When much of popular music these days seems to rely on familiar tropes, listening to Miller's latest work reminds us that there still are creatives exploring new worlds and the sounds that come with them. Thank goodness for the rest of us that this still happens.
