Really like this product, but smoking food is an art.Watch the temp, the 2nd time i used it the temp did not rise above 200 FI can't get the temp and time quite right for salmon but everyone enjoyed it.I have had this smoker for over two weeks. The first time I used it, it was a cool rainy day and it did not work well. I had to cook the meat in the oven for a hour after removing it.I used it today on a sunny warm day and discovered a couple of things. First it is important that you preheat. Secondly after adding cool food let it cook without opening it for a good while. Also, I cooked my 3 hour recipe for two 2 hour segment so it could get back to temperature.The results were very impressive.I really like having a smoker, I've owned this brand for about the last 10 years. I love it. So when the other one I had stopped working we bought this one. The problem with this new one is that it doesn't get above 250°and that's pushing it. Normally I could smoke our entire dinner including potatoes, some meat and other veggies and it be done in about 2-3 hours. I'm taking about maybe 2 pieces of large chicken breasts, baked potatoes and corn on the Cobb. This is an example. But now it would take me literally almost 6-7 hours to do this. I know meat people use smokers for big pieces of meat and smoke all day, and we did that too with our old one. But this one would take all night and all day up do that. We lived using it for easy quick meals, put the food in there and go about your day and when ready to eat a few hours later it was ready. This isn't the case now. If active has an idea why it's doing this please contact us.Water trays they sent is way to big the smoker wouldn't get up to recommended temperature. I use a loaf pan on bottom shelf next to element but doesn't touch. I took the lid off the chip container and wow what a difference it now gets up to recommended temperature and nice and smokey. I get wonderful smoked meats and potatoes now. Love it.this is a nice smoker but there are no replacement parts if something goes wrongThis smoker is good. Does its job. Has plenty of room. We did 9 kielbasa rings at 1 time. As with any smoker you have to check it so the water doesnt go dry and the chips are not gone. Very small chip container. And also there is plastic coating on the water pan that we did not notice and that was a mess when we first used it. All in all happy with the purchase!!It worked great for 32 days then quit cost just about as much for the replacement parts as it does to buy a new one my opinion POSsmoke chip tray is too small, other than that it is a great unit. just the right size for a single man.Smoker would never go over 199 degrees and would fluctuate over 40 degrees when on maximum. Tried to get another analog controller replacement but was no longer under warranty after 3 months so we purchased that piece separately in hopes of that being the issue. Sadly it didn't work. Does anyone have ideas on what else we can try?
