part is expensive but it works as it should. I end up cutting the black protective coating off so that it would actually fit behind the control panel. This is not a fun replacement job. Here are the steps you need to take. thank me later...1) remove the griddle from the top by using a piece of metal to pry from the edges. It is not attached to anything, but the grease hole is long and gets stuck so you need to coerce it to come out near the front.1 continued) also unscrew the control panel (4 screws on the side, and 3 bottom screws beneath the control knobs2) unscrew the metal bracket holding the griddle thermostat (which is a long piece of copper wire with a probe3) unscrew the metal heatshield separating the control panel from the griddle and pull it towards you to release it.4) unscrew the 2 screws behind the griddle knob that hold the thermostat in place5) screw on the new thermostat and connect the wiring as the old one was (you may want to take a pic)6) cut the old thermostat probe copper wire and remove it7) insert the new copper probe into the hole in the oven to the right of the gas manifold that is in the way of the hole, if you didn't unscrew the metal heatshield under the griddle like I said in step 3, this will be impossible8) slide the copper thermostat probe under the heatshield and allow the thin piece of wire to sit under the heatshield to the left where the grease hole is, it will be impossible to insert the copper thermostat probe in the old hole where the old one was, so just let the copper wire sit under the heatshield near the grease hole9) screw the heatshield back down and make sure the gas releasing bar with orifices' in it slides into the heatshield along with the ignitor10) screw the thermostat bracket back down11) put the griddle back on12) tuck and coil the thermostat copper wire in an open space behind the control panel between the knobs where there is no huge thermostat or knob in the way, and slide the panel upwards so it goes over the manifold13) screw the front plate back on14) put the knobs back on15) thank me for saving you thousands!Little bit of work to get this replaced, mostly because you need to get access to the back panel to change it out. Pretty straightforward though and product seems to be working great - have a roast in the oven as we speak!
