I am well pleased with this purchase. It is a quality reprint of the information that Lionel provided to their registered repair centers. The reproduction quality is excellent and the volume appears to cover the full span of domestically manufactured Lionel products. One caution...the manual assumes that you have the basic knowledge that Lionel trained repairmen apparently received. As an example, it doesn't tell you how to disassemble a steam locomotive. The "exploded" parts drawing is complete so if you study it carefully you can figure out how it is assembled and work out how to take it apart. There were also some special tools that were available "back in the day" that the manual assumes you have. There are only a few and once you understand what they do you can figure out how to work without them. I also understand that there are several sources for reproductions of these tools. I think the book is a worthwhile purchase but understand that it is definitely not a "step-by-step" guide for dummies...it assumes some prior knowledge or a certain degree of mechanical competency on the part of the user.
