Description
Bruce Haack's The Electric Lucifer is rightly considered one of the masterworks of 20th century electronic music. Originally recorded in 1968 and 1969 (and released in 1970) it is an album both unique in conception and superb in realization. An eminently listenable work where Pop-psychedelia and Moog/musique-concrete sounds coalesce around Haack's central metaphysical concept of ''Powerlove'', a force so powerful that it could end war and unify humankind. Acclaimed upon its original release (one of Rolling Stone's favourite albums of 1970 among many citations) yet unavailable on LP for over four decades, The Electric Lucifer is reissued here officially for the very first time on LP! Remastered and restored from the ''lost'' original master tapes discovered in the Columbia vault. The Electric Lucifer is your gateway to the profound yet playful universe of Bruce Haack, a ''far-out'' place where flower-power and inner-space electronics collide! Limited edition of 500 in deluxe replica packaging on 180 gram vinyl.

Ive been on a roll lately with discovering great "new" music other wise known as "old long lost classics"- first there was The Zodiac cosmic sounds cd(RARE OOP AND ABOUT 60$ USED)- a moog inspired mix of astrological poetry and 60s psychedelia and i thought that nothing would top it until i stumbled across this album! Maybe im being overly generous with my 5 stars lately but this one is another faultless winner! Take some moody blues- some early moog and modular synths- kraftwerk - and haack's own homemade synths then combine with a drug fueled concept album that uses some of the first vocoder vocals- unique takes on woodstock era flower power sentiments and a kind of manic mix of eastern religion and christianity and the result is Haacks masterpiece The electric lucifer! There are songs on here that are so far ahead of their time that they sound like something youd hear today on warp or local underground college station! If you like bands like the united states of america -broadcast- boards of canada- kraftwerk- or the more weirder side of the moody blues and early pink floyd than get this now- as soon as i saw the cover i knew this would be good but i didnt expect a one of a kind classic that hasnt left my cd player in days. Its hard to describe but it veers from sound collage to sunshine pyschedelia- to menacing electronic pop- its catchy but not in the simple way and i find it impossible to find any faults even when the material occassionaly gets a tad cheesy!(just a bit) Great lyrics crazy arrangements and a totally unique artist! One of my favorite unknown forgotten albums that deserves more recognition that the liner notes clearly imply! PS great liner notes and the bonus material is really interesting- interviews and some performances mixed off afew live radio shows from the era!
