We purchased these for our kitchen. We needed a light that could be on all night in case we needed to get a glass of water or a snack. I initially bought one and liked it so much that I bought 3 more and installed them in the outlets over the counters. The light can be adjusted from subtle to bright (but not so bright that you need sunglasses!). They can be manually turned off, or leave them on and they will come on when the room is dark. My brother in law came for a visit last fall and complimented us for our 'runway' lights! They are perfect for our kitchen!
