I thought these were going to be metal on the inside, but there's just a metal cap on the plastic cutout that goes on the grill switch. The actual cutout that touches the switch and turns it is still plastic. The knob looks good and is comfortable to turn, but the only reason we ordered it is because we thought it was metal where it touches the switch.
